Welcome to the “Evidence for Improving Patient Care and Outcomes” CD-ROM. This CD provides synopses and accompanying graphics of the 10 articles in the November 2004 Supplement to the American Journal of Kidney Diseases (AJKD) entitled: “Evidence for Improving Patient Care and Outcomes.” The supplement and this CD were developed through a collaborative effort by the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) and the University Renal Research and Education Association (URREA). We hope you will find this information useful in your research. Please feel free to use the information contained on this CD in your own presentations. The full text of all the articles may be found in the American Journal of Kidney Diseases, Volume 44, Number 5 (Supplement 2), November 2004. The NKF and URREA Partnership… Improved standards of care and increased longevity for hemodialysis patients are the goals of a formal partnership between the NKF and URREA. This partnership brings together experts in nephrology, policy development, and scientific research methods to coordinate evidence based clinical practice guidelines developed by the NKF’s Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (K/DOQI™) with research from the Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS), administered by URREA.
The NKF gratefully acknowledges the support of the primary sponsor of the AJKD supplement: The Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study.
