ISHCOF - International Study of Health Care Organization and Financing
The International Study of Health Care Organization and Financing (ISHCOF) is
a comparative review of various structures, incentives, and policies for end-stage
renal disease (ESRD) treatment in the 12 DOPPS countries. ISHCOF aims to characterize
these financial arrangements and their impact on the delivery of dialysis care. In 2004 and 2005,
surveys addressing several aspects of ESRD financing were administered to investigators in each
country. The results of these surveys were then used to write 12 country-specific manuscripts and
1 summary article.
The ISHCOF examines how the treatment of renal failure is paid for around the world.
This study comprises 13 related papers published in a two-part special issue of the International
Journal of Health Care Finance and Economics.
